New LUFA Comming Soon

Since I’m being worked like the devil at University at the moment, I can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to finish off the Host Mode Class drivers soon enough to make it worth the wait. This next release contains a lot of other additions and fixes, and so I think it’s important to get it out of my virtual door as soon as I can, rather than wait for changes that I don’t know I’ll be able to make in a reasonable timeframe. That means that this coming Monday I will be releasing the next version, Host Mode Class drivers complete or not.

Currently all the Host Mode class drivers are complete with the exception of the HID driver, but that one is proving to be the trickiest to design and code. Still, I’m not ready yet to rubber-stamp the others, so even if I do manage to code up the remainder of the HID driver, there’s no guarantee the drivers’ APIs will remain stable after I’ve had time to review them.

I’m looking forward to the next release; apart from the large number of fixes to the Device class drivers (CDC, I’m looking at you!) this also will include my new AVRISP firmware so that people can start easily making their own AVRISP-MKII units out of whatever USB AVRs they have handy.

On a totally unrelated note, XKCD (the awesome geeky webcomic) has published its first book! If someone wants to gift me a copy, I won’t say no.. ;)
